URGENT - ACT 147 OF 2006 HAS PASSED!

The Pennsylvania Legislature has passed House Bill 2738, which will impact many rights of injured workers.  In relevant part, this Bill will:

1. Establish a minimum weekly compensation rate of $100.00 for injuries taking place before August 31, 1993.
2. Establish an expedited procedure for settlements, so settlement hearings can take place within 14 business days of being requested.
3. Establish that Judges must set mandatory trial schedules, in an effort to make cases move at a more efficient pace than before.
4. Establish mandatory mediation in all cases, unless the mediation would be futile. 
5. Establish new ethical standards for the Workers' Compensation Appeal Board members.
6. Establish a new fund, which will pay compensation for injured workers when the employer does not have workers' compensation insurance
