Levittown, Pennsylvania

Levittown, PA, is a unique city. Established just after World War II, in the early 1950’s, by William J Levitt, of Levitt & Sons, this was the second “planned community” to be so developed. The first, also called Levittown, was in NY. The concept of this planned community was to provide inexpensive housing for veterans of WWII. By developing many lots, with only a few different models of houses available, Levitt was able to keep construction costs reasonable. In addition to homes, the planned community included schools, places of worship, open grass areas, recreation areas and shopping facilities.

Around this same time, manufacturing and industry was blossoming in the area. US Steel opened its plant in Fairless Hills, PA (US Steel Fairless Works), and General Motors also came to the region. These, and other employers, made jobs in the vicinity plentiful. Levittown grew and developed. Many other employers arrived, and shopping areas progressed, including the erection of Oxford Valley Mall. By 2000, the population rose to over 55,000 people. This number has only slightly decreased to the present.

Over the years, we have had the privilege of representing many “Levittowners,” as residents of the area are known to refer to themselves. Citizens of Levittown have their cases heard at the Bristol Workers’ Compensation Hearing Office, located at 1242 Veterans Highway, just south of the I-95 interchange on Veterans Highway (Route 413). This hearing office handles cases for residents of Lower Bucks County. Three Workers’ Compensation Judges (WCJs) regularly hold hearings at this office, including WCJ Robert Benischeck, WCJ Michael J. Rosen, and WCJ Joseph McManus.

Cases for Central and Upper Bucks County are heard at the Doylestown Courthouse, at Main and Court Streets in Doylestown. These cases are usually assigned to WCJ Bruce Doman.

From regularly appearing before the WCJs in the Bristol Workers’ Compensation Hearing Office, to taking depositions from the area’s many medical facilities, including St Mary Medical Center, Lower Bucks Hospital and Aria Health Bucks County (formerly known as Delaware Valley Medical Center), we have years of experience in meeting the needs of Levittowners, after their lives are impacted by a devastating work injury.
